The Red Cross answers each of these differently. For fires and floods, that means emergency shelters and immediate assistance for displaced families. For heat waves, it means shelter activation and coordinating with cooling centers so people have somewhere safe to wait out the worst days.
Blood collection runs at donor centers across the state, and the supply goes to Banner Health, Dignity Health, and other Arizona hospital systems that draw on it constantly. Appointments are usually available within days at most Arizona chapters.

Financial gifts fund shelter operations, supplies, and response logistics, and you can give at redcross.org. Cash beats goods after a disaster; it moves faster and doesn't need sorting or storage.
Volunteering is the deeper commitment. Disaster response volunteers complete several weeks of training before deployment, then staff shelters, assess damage, and support families after home fires, which remain the most common disaster the Red Cross handles anywhere.
Confirm any charity's 501(c)(3) status with the IRS Tax Exempt Organization Search and check its Charity Navigator rating. Keep the written acknowledgment for donations of $250 or more; you'll need it at tax time.
