St. Vincent de Paul Twin Cities is the oldest nonprofit in Minnesota, founded in 1856. It serves the Minneapolis and St. Paul metro area through thrift stores, food and free stores, home-visit outreach, and furniture vouchers, all funded and supplied by donated goods.
Founded in 1856, St. Vincent de Paul Twin Cities is the oldest nonprofit in Minnesota. As part of the Catholic lay Society of St. Vincent de Paul, it helps neighbors in need across the Minneapolis and St. Paul area through both retail and direct aid.
Its volunteers, called Vincentians, provide person-to-person help, often through home visits.
The council runs thrift stores in Minneapolis at 2939 12th Avenue South and in St. Paul at 461 7th Street West, selling donated clothing, furniture, and household goods. Sales fund the council's programs, and donated furniture is also delivered directly to clients through vouchers.

Beyond the thrift stores, SVdP Twin Cities operates food banks and free stores and reaches people through home-visit outreach. It provides vouchers for furniture and household goods that are delivered to clients' homes.
This mix of stores, food access, and direct delivery helps families set up and stabilize a home.
St. Vincent de Paul is a 501(c)(3), so goods and cash are tax-deductible when you itemize. Get a receipt at drop-off, and estimate fair market value with our donation value guide.
