The St. Louis Area Foodbank is a non-profit organization that has been serving the St. Louis community since 1975. Our mission is to build stronger communities by empowering people with food and hope. We work tirelessly to provide food assistance to those in need, while also advocating for policies that address the root causes of hunger.

What We Do

The St. Louis Area Foodbank distributes food to over 500 partner agencies in 26 counties in Missouri and Illinois. These agencies include food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, and other organizations that serve people in need. In addition to distributing food, we also provide education and outreach programs to help people access other resources that can improve their lives.

Impact

In 2020, the St. Louis Area Foodbank distributed over 43 million pounds of food, which equates to over 35 million meals. This food helped feed over 392,000 people in our community, including children, seniors, and families struggling with poverty. Our impact goes beyond just providing food – we also work to address the root causes of hunger by advocating for policies that support economic stability and access to nutritious food.

Giving

The St. Louis Area Foodbank relies on the generosity of donors to continue our work. Every dollar donated helps provide four meals to people in need. There are many ways to give, including one-time donations, monthly giving, planned giving, and workplace giving. Donors can also choose to support specific programs or initiatives that align with their values.

Grants

The St. Louis Area Foodbank offers grants to partner agencies to support their efforts in addressing hunger in their communities. These grants can be used for a variety of purposes, such as purchasing equipment or supplies, funding outreach programs, or supporting advocacy efforts. We also offer grants to organizations that are working to address the root causes of hunger, such as poverty and lack of access to nutritious food.
