Big Brothers Big Sisters of Missoula is a non-profit organization that has been serving the Missoula community since 1973. Our mission is to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever.

What We Do

We match children between the ages of 6 and 18 with caring adult mentors who serve as positive role models and provide support, guidance, and friendship. Our mentors, or “Bigs,” meet with their “Littles” on a regular basis, participating in activities such as hiking, fishing, playing sports, or simply spending time together.

Impact

Our program has a proven track record of making a positive impact on the lives of the children we serve. According to a national study, children who have a Big Brother or Big Sister are:

– 46% less likely to begin using illegal drugs

– 27% less likely to begin using alcohol

– 52% less likely to skip school

– 37% less likely to skip a class

– More confident in their academic abilities

– More likely to graduate from high school

Giving

As a non-profit organization, we rely on the generosity of individuals and businesses in our community to support our mission. Donations can be made online through our website or by mail. We also accept in-kind donations such as gift cards, event tickets, and other items that can be used for fundraising purposes.

Grants

We are grateful for the support of local and national foundations that provide grants to help us fund our programs and services. Some of our current grant partners include the Montana Community Foundation, the Dennis and Phyllis Washington Foundation, and the United Way of Missoula County.
