Habitat for Humanity ReStores accept new and gently used items. Generally, it accepts things like new and gently used appliances, furniture, building materials, and household goods. If the cookbook cover is a hardback, you’ll need to pull out the paper for recycling (just throw away the cover — sorry). Keep in mind that if the pages have gotten wet or soiled, or are so old that they’ve turned brown and brittle, they’re no good for recycling. In that case, you should just throw them out with your regular garbage.
I have about 50 or so books that came from a Jewish synagogue that closed. They are in English, fiction and non-fiction, mostly hardback. I have multiple medical books in excellent conditions to donate, other wise I will need to recycle them. I have several old medical textbooks from the 90’s to about 2010 to donate.
