Nicholas J Donato Obituary
Nick cherished the time spent with his family at their summer home in Seaside Park for over 55 years. He loved boating, the beach, laughing and reminiscing by the fire pit, but most importantly buying ice cream for his 4 grandchildren. His family will continue this tradition for generations to come.
Please accept Echovita’s sincere condolences. Nick was born in Pittsburgh, PA to Joseph and Rachel Donato. He graduated from Westinghouse High School where he was a fine athlete and continued to play softball into his 60s. Nick retired from Westinghouse Electric, Plant Apparatus Division, after 30+ years of service. He was a member of Holy Angels Church, actively serving as an Eucharistic Minister for nearly three decades.
You are all in my thoughts during this difficult time. I will miss Nick everytime I look at the empty drum set in church or meet with the worship team. He was always able to place a smile on my face. He helped me worship God through his drumming. His absence at our church will leave a big gap. I cared for him deeply and am saddened that I could not have done more.
He is pre-deceased by both of his parents, his nephew Christopher Hustis, and his beloved Labrador, Bella. Would you like to offer Donato Antonio Nicholas Falcetta’s loved ones a condolence message? His son and daughter were by his side when he went to be with the Lord. Nick was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Dorothy “Dottie,” and his sister, Grace McDonough. Loving father of Nick Donato and Marilyn Scaff. Devoted grandfather to Dylan and Mason Scaff. Best dog walker and treat giver to his grand dogs, Zena, LeBron and Rocky. We enjoyed Nick’s smile on Sundays, especially from behind the drum set.

Nicky had countless friends with whom he kept in touch with…from his school days, to his men’s softball league and hockey teammates. He was a loyal friend and would help anyone if they needed it. Nicky was a wonderful friend, caring neighbor and people instantly loved him the first time they met him. My deepest sympathy goes out to the Donato family. Though I only met Nick a couple of times, Brent told me what a great kid he was; funny and very close to his brother Peter. I ask God to support you during this most difficult time.
