Our mission is to keep these materials out of the landfill, while offering deep discounts on their resale. Achieving California’s goal of carbon-free electricity by 2045 will be impossible without major changes in the residential sector. Luckily, the transition away from gas isn’t just environmentally beneficial; homeowners, renters, and property managers who go all-electric end up paying less in utilities and get to live in healthier spaces. We believe that by giving residents the knowledge that they need to both identify and address home health issues, we can improve the health and safety of many lives and put people on a path to hope and greater prosperity. We believe that by taking a holistic approach to home improvements we can leverage state and utility energy efficiency programs to further offer healthy home and deferred maintenance upgrades that will dramatically improve lives while also helping the planet. We convene stakeholders and develop their capacity to transform the housing ecosystem by offering credible, accessible resources. We built our reputation on bringing residential green building into the mainstream, but we’ve always known that shifting home building toward more sustainable practices was a starting place, not a destination. Today, we’re envisioning a new approach to home and neighborhood building that fosters health in the broadest sense — as an interconnected web of personal, community, and bioregional well-being. Our work in Scaling the Adoption of Health & Energy Efficiency Improvements focuses on the role of the individual in generating demand for these services.
