How to Donate Breast Milk: Milk Donor Requirements

It contains tremendous special properties that cannot be duplicated by commercial milk formulas. You are still going to heaven or whatever they call were you are going. Be prepared to be very careful with the expression and storage of your breast milk.

These babies are at a higher risk of developing life-threatening infections and can benefit greatly from taking breast milk exclusively. Babies who have access to breast milk have been shown to require shorter hospital stays after birth. To get screened as a milk donor, call one of our 31 nonprofit member milk banks. They will interview you by phone, advise what you need from your doctor, and require a blood test through a lab they identify.

Also the labs must be done at least eight days after the procedure. On May 6, 2020 Mother’s Milk Bank of Florida celebrated its one-millionth ounce of dispensed milk. Unfortunately, the Mother’s Milk Cooperative is currently not taking donations from California 🙁 I’ve emailed them asking when they will start accepting donations from CA again.

HBMBANA-accredited banks follow strict protocols to ensure the safety of their donor milk and may supply milk to local hospitals. They also have a priority list of babies and moms they must give the milk to in order of importance. First on the list are premature babies and sick, hospitalized infants; then sick babies who are no longer in the hospital but are failing to thrive or suffering from another condition.
