How to Donate
Nanaimo RCMP are looking to identify a man who allegedly took indecent pictures of a woman last month. Mounties say the man walked into the Dollarama at 609 Bruce Ave. on July 29 when he reportedly took the photos of the unsuspecting woman. Two women in their 60s died Saturday after a driver crashed into a wedding party in West Vancouver, B.C. And another seven people remain in hospital, according to an update from police. The emergency department at the hospital in St. Marys, Ont., is reducing its hours of operation this week due to staff shortages.
We have a budget between $20,000 and $30,000 a year, and we do it all through your donations. We ask all patrons to contribute financially to the cooperative shop, but we don’t turn anyone away for lack of funds. Please contact us with a picture and any details about your bike donation. Please clean up your bike before donating it so we can focus on repairs. Most bikes get refurbished and are then donated to our partner charities. Some bikes are sold to fund our repair parts and operations.
Can you pick up my bike(s)?
We recycle what cannot be fixed and refurbish what can be used. We are pleased to accept donations of gently used bicycles, parts, tools, and accessories. These items are judiciously sorted by our staff to ensure that we’re able to make the most out of each donation. Some items will be sold in our store, where profits go to fund our Programs, and some items will go directly to participants in our Programs. Items that can’t be re-homed will be stripped, sorted, and sent to the scrap yard where raw materials are sorted and sold for manufacturing things all over the world. We accept monetary donations by cash, cheque , and Canadian Tire money.

If you don’t have a bike to give, there are still charities you can help. World Bicycle Relief is one such organization, focused on using bicycles as a mechanism for social change. For children, that means providing bikes as a tool for access to education.
