Chemical Free Air Freshener You Can Make for Home

I love having a fresh smelling home, but hate using chemical additives (like those plugins and scented candles) to achieve a fresh scent. This is a fun little home hint on how to make a chemical free air freshener that will keep your house smelling great,  whenever you want to add a hint of a scent.

Fresh Home Trick

All you need is a few drops of your favorite essential oils and a dropper! When you replace the air filters in your home, simply squeeze a few drops of your favorite oil (or combinations of oils) onto the filter. This tip is part of our Home Hacks series.

DIY Air Freshener that is Chemical Free

After you put the filter back in place and the air begins to circulate through it, the lovely scent from the oils will circulate through your home as well.

We love that this is a much safer and budget-friendly solution to using candles, or chemical-laden air fresheners throughout the house.

The scent should last a few weeks, and you can always add another drop or two throughout the month, even when it’s not time to replace your filter.

We’re sharing a few of our favorite scent combinations here. Use two to three drops of each essential oil for the perfect combination! We have found that high quality oils have the longest lasting effect.
