This year’s Charity Boat Auction is generously sponsored by SpinSheet & PropTalk magazines. On Aug. 27, CBMM’s Welcome Center will open at 8am, with free event entrance for CBMM members and children ages 5 and under. The spring overstock auction is in addition to CBMM’s annual Labor Day weekend live auction on Saturday, September 3, when more than 100 boats will be on land and in the water for the highest bidders to take home. Proceeds from both events benefit the children and adults served by the non-profit museum. More than 60donated boats and watercraft—ranging in size and performance from cruising boats to dinghies—will be in the water and on land to be auctioned off to the highest bidders.

Whether you are able to tow a boat on a trailer from the donor to the museum, or would like to be on a crew that brings boats to CBMM over water, your help is welcomed. As part of the preferred partnership, Curtis Stokes will assist CBMM with the pre-evaluation of boats, and the determination of each boat’s marketability.

CBMM Announces Boat Auction

On Aug. 27, CBMM’s gates open at 8am, with free event entrance for CBMM members and children ages 5 and under. Otherwise, general admission is $5 per person until 11am, with a $5 paddle fee for registered bidders. For safety reasons, non-service dogs are prohibited during CBMM festivals and special events, including the Charity Boat Auction.

As part of the new partnership, CBMM and Curtis Stokes will jointly work to acquire, evaluate, market, and sell a selection of luxury boats donated to CBMM. The Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum will once again host its annual Charity Boat Auction on Saturday, Aug. 27. The Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum is holding its very first sealed-bid boat auction. Due to a large number of recent boat donations, up to 20 in-the-water boats—ranging in size and performance from cabin cruisers and sport fisherman to sailing yachts—will be auctioned off to each boat’s highest bidder. The boats will be available to preview at CBMM beginning on Thursday, April 28 and continuing during museum hours until all sealed bids are due at noon on Sunday, May 1. The event also includes a flea market-style tag sale starting at 9am, where guests can purchase a variety of used boating gear, including ground tackle, electrical equipment, hardware, rope, chain, oars, life jackets, fishing tackle, motors, and more.
